Gold Division Championship

IceMen 71  Barely Legal 68-

DOWN GOES BARELY LEGAL! The Icemen shocked everyone, myself included, with a 3 point victory over the defending champions last night. In one of the most entertaining Men's League Games, I personally have ever seen, the IceMen broke out of the gates strong with a 12-0 run to begin the game. Barely Legal would not be blown out on this night, as they scored the games next 11 points to make it 12-11, 7 minutes into the game. The teams went back and forth for the rest of the half playing to a 20-20 tie over the next 13 minutes. Making the score 32-31 IceMen at the break. The second half started with more nip and tuck action, the IceMen looked as though they were going to start to pull away and held a 51-41 lead with 11:15 to play, but after a Barely Legal timeout, the defending Fall League champs came storming back with a 7-0 run over the next 2 minutes to cut the lead to three at 51-48. Again, the IceMen would not give in bumping their lead back to 7 at 60-53 with 5:10 to go. Barely Legal, showed however, why they are so hard to beat as they came storming back and took a 63-60 lead with just 2 minutes remaining. The IceMen responded with back to back threes from Sorrentine and Ryan Spencer to go back ahead by 3. They would never relinquish this lead, finishing the upset off by a final count of 71-68. James Sorrentine, played an incredible floor game scoring 21 points and adding 7 assists. League MVP Kyle Gibson added 16 points and 8 rebounds. For Barely Legal Rich Morantis did all he could posting a line of 28 points, 9 Assists and 8 Rebounds in defeat.

Both of these teams will be back for the Summer Session, I have a feeling we have not seen the last of this rivalry.
