Team Power Rankings

Week 4

1.) Barely Legal (Last Week: 1)

Well I feel at home again. It was weird to start these rankings with any other team besides Barely Legal, even if it was just for a couple of weeks. They personify Men's League consistency and dominance. The latest example of this was last nights 20 point thrashing of the Greenies. They have once again made it clear who this league goes through each and every session. Greg McCarthy's summer attendance thus far makes them even more daunting than they already were.

2.) Select Hoops (Last Week: 2)

When you're right, you're right, and last week sliding Select Hoops up this list was a move that I stood by then, and still stand by now. If the first three weeks were exhibit A, their week 4 win over defending champion The IceMen was exhibit A+. Select Hoops is FOR REAL. With the dynamic duo of Corey and Garrick, and then a cameo appearance by Alex DaLuz in the 20 point club last night. This team is beyond impressive to watch play. Number 2 for now... keywords: "for now."

3.) Toon Squad (Last Week: 5)

With the only blemish for this team coming at the hands of Barely Legal, I was extremely interested to see how they would respond against league power Team OFF. Boy did they ever answer the bell. With a balanced attack of their multiple young guns, the Toon Squad defeated Team OFF last night, thus earning them a 2 spot bounce up our list. The winds of change are A-blowing throughout the A Division, and the students are slowly becoming the teachers, and last nights result was a perfect example of just that.

4.) Team OFF (Last Week: 3)

Though the upset by the Toon Squad was exciting to watch, make no mistake about it, you are "OFF" your rocker if you think that Team OFF isn't still a major contender in this league. Dave Harrison's 29 points last night shows what he is capable of every time he laces up his shoes. One has to wonder if the 'sensai' of Team OFF Mike Vaughan will ever make it to a game, I've heard good leaders make the difference between a 3 point loss and a 3 point win, and after last nights 3 point setback, one has to wonder if anyone is reaching out to MV to try and reverse these results.

5.) Average at Best (Last Week: 6)

I think I fired this team up a couple weeks back when I suggested that maybe "Average at Best" was more than just a team name. Over the past few weeks this team has been taking out their fury on every team that has come into their path. Last nights victim was And Three who scored a huge win over the IceMen the week before, and I thought this game would be a lot closer than it was. Ryan Sheehan and Derek Retos looked as though they were playing against each other last night, and that the opponents were just an after thought. This is as good of a scoring duo, as I can remember in this league. If they both are flirting with 30 on a nightly basis, A-A-B is going straight to the T-O-P.

6.) IceMen (Last Week: 4)

And they are freeeeeeee... freeee falllin. Just two weeks ago the IceMen were 2-0 and topped our power rankings list, fresh off a Spring league Title. Now they have fallen all the way to our number 6 spot, down 2 spots from last week. One may argue this may be a little bit harsh, considering last nights setback came to #2 Select Hoops, but simply put other teams in this session are starting to play to their capabilities, and IceMen are starting to look vulnerable. It will be interesting to see if they can get back on track next week.

7.) Salve (Last Week: 8)

Salve continues to slowly but surely climb this list, though the top 6 right now will be an extremely difficult bridge to cross over. Last night they earned their second win of the session over Willy's Local Foods thanks to a strong performance by Eric McKinnon. Chemistry goes a long way and these guys definitely have that, time will tell if they have the talent to push them any higher than this # 7 spot.

8.) Grit N' Balls (Last Week: 10)

There was a reason this club was in the top 10 even though they had yet to earn a victory. Last night Grit N' Balls made a prophet out of me once more earning a victory over Attleboro to move up 2 spots on this list. Week 4 POW Steve Burrill is a gunner, and if he gets hot, as he did last night, GNB is going to upset a few more teams before this session is all over.

9.) Attleboro (Last Week: 9)

Attleboro holds steady at # 9 this week despite the defeat against Grit N' Balls. This team can still ball, and have the athletes to compete with anyone on this list. Shooting plaques this group at times, but if Connor Larkin can get some help in the scoring department, this is a team that could earn a W on any given week.

10.) AndThree (Last Week: 7)

Perhaps I was a little hasty bumping this team up to number 7 last week after they upset the IceMen. Last week this team came back down to earth (and to #10) after getting dismantled by Average at Best. Inconsistency thy name is AndThree, as we have seen this team beat the IceMen and hang with Team OFF, but then lay an egg last night. Which team will we see over the final weeks of this season? Time will tell.
