Team Power Rankings

Week 8

1.) Select Hoops (Last Week: 1)

They called me crazy, they said at full strength nobody is better than Barely Legal. They said that SH at #1 was a biased pick. Well after Week 7, in a match-up where both teams were at full strength, Select Hoops solidified their #1 ranking, defeating Barely Legal 76-73. Here's a formula I came up with, Alex DaLuz adding 20 points or more, equals a SH win. Oh who cares, they're 8-0, the formula really is.. if Select Hoops shows up.. they win. So far they've showed up the last 8 Tuesday Nights.

2.) Barely Legal (Last Week: 2)

Barely Legal is good.. heck.. they are Barely Legal, they have Nike Jerseys.. but Tuesday made it clear that they are going to have a huge road block in Select Hoops if they are planning on winning the Men's League this Summer. The list of stars this team boasts is the largest the league has for sure. They have chemistry, they have sets, they switch defenses. They know how to win, but can they avenge a 2nd place finish in the Spring, ESPECIALLY with a team that just refuses to lose one spot ahead of them on this list? Time will certainly tell.

3.) Average at Best (Last Week: 3)

I don't usually give myself a pat on the back, but I really would like to this Summer. The power rankings have proven to be pretty dead on as of late. Average at Best looked like a CLEAR #3 this week blowing out Willy's Local Foods 113-94. If you want to talk formula's.. I'd say Derek Retos scoring 44 points is going to lead to a win for Average at Best. I know that's more of a statement than a formula, but it's a statement I mean with all of my heart. If you let Retos get hot, he can hit 11 threes and score 44 points, and you are going to lose... just as a side note.. AAB also has Ryan Sheehan.. who's pretty good as well. This team could be making like Katy Perry and coming at everyone like a "Dark Horse" come playoff time. Pop references aside, keep your eye on AAB.

4.) IceMen (Last Week: 4)

The IceMen are back jack. With perhaps their most impressive win to date, the IceMen defeated Team OFF 85-81. With their momentum building, I wouldn't want to be in their way a couple of weeks from now. This is one of the most talented bunches in the league. As Ric Flair once said "To be the man WOOOO.. you got to beat the man" and right now this team is still the defending champs until further notice.

5.) Toon Squad (Last Week: 5)

The Toon Squad, is an appropriate name for this group, because they are almost comical to watch. A team that has SO much talent, perhaps one of the most loaded rosters in the entire league, seems as though they almost play with teams for 38 minutes knowing full well that they are going to win at the end. Week in and week out this team wins close games, and I just wonder if it will ever come back to bite them. As of now they are 6-2, and life is good as they once again round out the top 5 in week 8.

6.) Team OFF (Last Week: 6)

Though life may be good in Looney Tune land, life is starting to get tough in Team OFF's world. They are still at #6.. for now.. but this team personifies dysfunction. Bickering amongst each other and just an overall lack of chemistry, has allowed this team to drop to an unthinkable 4-4 on the season. By their standards, this year has been a disaster. With all of that said, they are not lacking talent and I still wouldn't want to be playing them in a win or go home situation.

7.) Attleboro (Last Week: 8)

It seems as though whoever plays the Greenies, moves up in the power rankings. This week was no different, as Attleboro made a loud statement pounding the Greenies 90-65. This is the Attleboro team I've been waiting for. This team can ball, but now it's time to make a statement against somebody who isn't 1-7.

8.) Grit N Balls ( Last Week: 10)

This team is funny, right when you think they are going to fall off the cliff, Andy Bohtello turns in 35 points and you remember just how good they are. They are an extremely quiet 4-4 in what is a very difficult A division. They may not beat you everytime, but it is never a cake walk when this team is across from you.

9.) Salve (Last Week: 7)

An unfair drop for Salve perhaps, but 2-6 is 2-6. Coming 'close' can only get you so far, and if Salve keeps coming close, they are going to be watching most of the playoffs on TV.. well not on TV.. as we have not yet inked a deal.. but you know what I mean.

10.) Willy's Local Foods (Last Week: 9)

Usually when you score 94 points you win. Last week it was enough to lose by 19. This team is still coming around, but you can't let one player hit 11 threes and score 44 on you, and expect to not move down this list.
