Team Power Rankings

Week 7

1.) Select Hoops (Last Week: 1)

In one of the best stories of the Summer, Select Hoops just can't lose. Right when it looked like Team OFF was going to pull the upset. Brad Lucke removed his shirt to reveal the S on his chest, as he drilled a game tying 3 (One of the 8 triples he hit) to send the game to OT, where SH pulled away to win by 7. How can you not like this team? They are athletic (some of them) they can shoot (all of them) and they just refuse to lose. Their 7th straight win to start the Summer Season, cements them into this #1 spot yet again.

2.) Barely Legal (Last Week: 2)

It was another game and another victory for Barely Legal, their 6th of the summer, but the game certainly was not as much of a blowout as one would expect. I don't want to say they are slowing down, because I'd still want no part of playing them, at any point in time, in any place, but this just doesn't seem like the dominant Barely Legal we've all seen before. They stay at #2 this week, but I'm just waiting to come in on Wednesday to a 104-30 score, so that I can feel like the guard isn't changing in the MPC Summer Men's League.

3.) Average at Best (Last Week: 3)

AAB downed Grit N Balls this week, and they remain our #3 squad on this list. Writing these rankings you just realize how good this league really is. Any of 3 teams could be in this spot right now, but Ryan Sheehan and the boys hold on to it for the time being. To say that it's going to be an interesting last few weeks would be an understatement.

4.) IceMen (Last Week: 6)

Though Team OFF and Toon Squad both played fairly well on Tuesday. I have to give some love back to the Spring League Champions. After losing 3 straight this team has recovered winning their last 2 contests. The big 3 of Gibson Spencer Sorrentine (say that 3 times fast) are just too darn good to keep them out of the top 5. Though 4-3 doesn't astound you, this team is a contender for the chip. Take that to the bank.

5.) Toon Squad (Last Week: 4)

The Toon Squad drops one spot to number 5 this week after a heart stopping squeaker of a win in week 7 over Willy's Local Foods. Inconsistency thy name is Toon Squad, as I've mentioned in prior rankings, this team just turns it on and off as they please. I'm just afraid for them that one of these weeks, they are going to be looking for the ON switch a little bit too late. It almost happened this week, but thanks to a Justin Perron sighting (32 points) they live to see themselves in the top 5 yet again.

6.) Team OFF (Last Week: 5)

The top 6 is clear and to be expected. One thing Team OFF didn't expect was to be in the #6 spot, at any point this season. Somewhere Mike Koziol is in disbelief. The fact is Team OFF is talented, they can ball, but there's just something missing (sometimes it's their players when the game is supposed to start) but other times it's just that chemistry that it takes to win games on a consistent level. This past Tuesday Night they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and I just think unless they figure it out, this is going to be your most underachieving team in the session.

7.) Salve (Last Week: 9)

Salve gave Barely Legal a run in week 7 that they (or any one else for that matter) expected. This team is a solid bunch. They have more bounce in their step than the average team this Summer. One can't help but think if any team is going to shake things up come playoff time, it might just be a group of guys that will still be playing meaningful games come this winter. Keep your eye on Salve.

8.) Attleboro (Last Week: 7)

Attleboro drops one spot this week in lieu of a loss to the IceMen. I'm getting to the point now where I'm tired of talking about how much potential Attleboro has to be a top team in the league. Facts are facts, they are 2-5. If Attleboro wants to move up on this list, they are going to have to get in the win column before labor day.

9.) Willy's Local Foods (Last Week: 10)

This team is playing good basketball. We knew they were capable of it, it just took a horrific start to the season to wake them up. They nearly snatched an upset win over the Toon Squad this week, and just that alone proves this is a team you can't over look, or they just might get ya.

10.) Grit N Balls (Last Week: 8)

Grit N Balls falls two spots this week, despite having more wins than 8 and 9 on our list, I'm just not sold on them. Another squad that on paper is a very good looking club, but just can't seem to make that statement on Tuesday Nights that gets you to pay attention to them. Mark my words, there is going to be a night that all of their pistons are firing at one time, and that is going to be a night where they come away with a win that turns some heads. Week 7 was not that week, and thus they check in at #10 this week.
