Team Power Rankings

Week 1

1.) IceMen-

The IceMen are riding high after their Spring League Championship over Barely Legal. In Week 1 of the Summer Session they beat a very good squad in Average at Best. Sorrentine, Spencer, and Gibson are as good of a big 3 as there will be in this session. The way Sorrentine has played his last 2 times out, he is arguably the best Point Guard out of all 28 teams. Which will make the IceMen a tough W to get for any team that faces them, and earns them the #1 spot on the Power Rankings after week 1.

2.) Barely Legal-

May be an unpopular 1-2 selection with both of these Spring League powers squeaking by in Week 1, but for my money these are the truest and most cohesive units in the session. If Rich Morantis is on the court Barely Legal has a chance to win, and they did just that in Week 1 getting by a tough GNB team. Until someone knocks them out of this spot, Barely Legal isn't leaving the top 2.

3.) Toon Squad-

A 40 point week 1 win earns the Toon Squad the #3 spot on our list. With sharp shooters Brian Hershman and Jerry Moniyhan, mixed in with Athletic Big Man Mike Lofton, this is going to be a tough team to beat for any opponent. Look for them to be hanging around this part of the list week in and week out.

4.) Team OFF-

With a duo like Trent Forbes and Dave Harrison, this is going to be a tough team to bet against this Summer. Though they squeaked out a 5 point win over a tough AND Three Squad. This team certainly has the Firepower to make some noise in the session with one of the best rosters out there.

5.) Select Hoops-

Well they've proven they can score. 115 points later Select Hoops checks in at #5 on our list after Week 1, a spot that they may feel isn't giving them enough love for their top notch performance last night. With additions Corey and Tommy Garrick, and some key deletions, Select Hoops has a much better roster than they did in the Spring. Plus if Tyler Patches 25 point performance wasn't a mirage, and he becomes anything like his Seekonk High self, SH may have another top player on an already strong roster.

6.) The Greenies-

This is a team to keep your eye on. With Scorers like Greg Romanko and the Layman's. They are going to be able to play with just about anyone. Their OT win in week 1 against a very game Salve club, is a testament to that statement. I look for them to be right in the mix all Summer Long.

7.) Attleboro-

They claimed that they'd be upgrading their spring roster, and boy do the results of Week 1 suggest that they did that! An 89-70 win over a normally tough Willy's Local Foods, will surely open a few eyes to this Attleboro squad as a legitimate threat this Spring. Keep your eyes on the boys in Blue.

8.) Average at Best-

Average at Best almost made the biggest statement out of any team in the session on Night 1. Key word being.. Almost. Despite having arguably the best complete player in the session, in Ryan Sheehan, who dropped in a league high 35 points in Week 1, Average at Best could not get the better of the IceMen. I look forward to seeing what this team of Sharp Shooters can bring to the table over the course of this season.

9.) AND Three-

AND Three is a team full of young guns from Milford, they came into the league with some high praise and expectations and they did not disappoint last night. They were every bit up to the challenge of facing TEAM OFF, and though they came up a little short. This isn't going to be a team you want to see across from you on the schedule.

10.) Grit N Balls-

Though their loss came to a higher team on our list (#2 Barely Legal) I'm not convinced that this Week 1 upset alert, wasn't smoke and mirrors, as Barely Legal was without 6'8 Big Man Greg McCarthy. With that said, the tenacious defense of Brenden Cole, coupled with the unconscious shooting of Steve Burrill and Andy Bohtello. Grit N Balls could be a surprise club this Summer.
