Team Power Rankings

Week 9

1.) Select Hoops (Last Week: 1)

Select Hoops continues to roll on. Their latest victim came in the form of Grit N Balls, who actually put up more of a fight than expected.  The fact remains that this is the team to beat, and nobody has been able to do it yet. They are the leagues only unbeaten in either the A or the B division, and for good reason.. they are AWESOME. Out of the 4-5 teams in my estimation that could win it all, they have got to be the favorite going into the playoffs.

2.) Average at Best (Last Week: 3)

Well I can honestly say I didn't see this coming. This week Average at Best, a team that has been ranked as low as 8 this season, slides into our number 2 spot. Newsflash, Derek Retos and Ryan Sheehan can score the basketball at will. It almost seems like they play 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' to decide who goes off on any given night. This week it was the latter as he lit Barely Legal up for 33 like he was back at Nichols College. Average at Best, has been looking slightly above average these past few games. Watch out for them!

3.) Barely Legal (Last Week: 2)

I never thought I'd live to see Barely Legal any lower than #2, but here we are. This week Barely Legal suffered their first two game losing streak.. probably ever.. falling to Average at Best. Are the wheels falling off for this group? Can they figure it out and get back to their dominant selves? Will they still get new jerseys next session if they continue to lose? Time will tell on all of the above!

4.) IceMen (Last Week: 4)

IceMen stay put this week as the clear # 4 team in the league. Another victory this week gives them 4 straight since an early season 3 game skid. They are starting to remember how good they are, and it's great to see. Another team that almost seems like they choose who is going to go off out of a hat. Ryan Spencer's 23 this week paced them this week. They are a team to watch, as I've seen with my own eyes a different gear that they possess when it's playoff time. Buckle Up.

5.) Toon Squad (Last Week: 5)

The Toon Squad were as impressive as I've seen them this past week. I guess they all got tired of winning by 1 every week. Rocky DeAndrade and Mike Lofton looked like their Mansfield Hornet selves, and they took it too Attleboro like it was a Tuesday or Friday in the Hock. This is a dangerous team at the # 5 seed, and it really speaks to the tremendous depth of this league.

6.) Team OFF (Last Week: 6)

Oh Team OFF, this group stayed consistent with regards to always making the on duty manager at Mass Premier angry with their tardiness. When the game started they weren't much more impressive than their ability to tell time. This week they barely squeaked by the lowly Greenies, winning by just 3. I debated dropping them lower than 6, but nobody beneath them wanted to take the spot. So this week they stay at # 6, but they are on thin ice.

7.) Grit N Balls (Last Week: 8)

Grit N Balls moves up one spot to # 7 this week, as they played very well against the leagues best, in Select Hoops. Bohtello, Feeny, and Burrill are capable of lighting in up, but without Joan Valenti on the sidelines and maybe Steve Tessier in the lineup, I don't know how far this team can take it come playoff time.

8.) AndThree (Last Week: NR)

And Three makes a huge jump this week after an impressive win over Salve. They are starting to score the ball pretty effectively, and have always had a tremendous amount of talent. That talent is starting to gel, and I can't help but think this is a team that could make some people mighty nervous come playoff time.

9.) Attleboro (Last Week: 7)

Down two spots is Attleboro this week after an 18 point loss to the Toon Squad. They are good.. but they just haven't been good enough.. like all year. On paper it's a loaded bunch, but they haven't put it together with any kind of consistency. They are 9 this week, because there just isn't many other teams playing well.

10.) Salve (Last Week: 9)

I'm starting to come to the realization that maybe Salve isn't as good as I gave them credit for. This weeks loss to AndThree proves just that. This team better figure it out quick, or it may be an early stay in the MPC Men's League Playoffs.
